INTER-SEASONS
Arranging colors into harmonic sequences of color revealed the concept of balanced colors and was key to understanding colors on skintones. As colors were sorted and grouped together by vibration, mixtures of warm and cool colors automatically came together by virtue of a bridge of in-between colors which provided the missing link colorists were looking for — balanced colors.
See How The Oval
Harmonics Have Been Sorted
Balanced colors cleared up the confusion connected with the limited Four Season approach. Keep in mind, there are extremely warm-colors and cool-colors; balanced colors are not so extreme. Balanced INTER-SEASON colors look good on everyone. Notice balanced colors fall on both ends of the color ovals, situated in-between the warm and cool colors.
If you have felt limited to one season, you are right and do have a broader range of colors. Many people discover the Goldilocks syndrome, "This one is too hot, this one is too cold, but this one is juuuust right!" For instance, if pink is too cool and coral is too warm for your skintone, balanced pinky-coral is going to be perfect.
The following diagram shows how the 4 Seasons break down into 12 orderly Inter-seasons:
In the following illustrated color groups, notice how each group appears to have the same vibration, or quality of color; bright colors are grouped together, soft blued colors are grouped together, warm muddy colors together, etc. After you see how the color groups are laid out, there are descriptions of the characteristics of each type person's coloring so that you can determine your Inter-season category. This is not approximate — the characteristics are precise and consistent. (Be sure to click "See How To Details" for a good understanding of how to adjust and combine your colors.)
SUMMER INTER-SEASON COLOR GROUPS AUTUMN INTER-SEASON COLOR GROUPS WINTER INTER-SEASON COLOR GROUPS Your Questionnaire will tell which Inter-Season colors apply to you. If you have characteristics checked in any category, you can use colors in that category to expand your color range. The following five color layouts are the most common Inter-season mixtures:
This person is more vibrant than the classic Summer, with Spring characteristics of thinner skin that flushes easily and electric sparkle in the eye. Also, a Summer person with more color in their skin and warmer honey-blonde hair needs more color. Medium ash-brown hair types also have a touch of Winter and use black and white for contrast and accent. These colors are used for accent with light Summer colors. A
MIXTURE OF SUMMER AND SPRING COLORS TO BRING ABOUT BALANCE
This person is more fragile than the classic Spring, with Summer characteristics of blue or lightly colored eyes, strawberry-blonde hair and shows more red in the skin (and probably freckles) needing light colors to cool off the red "heat." Because Spring is the Homebase, however, the added lighter colors must be warmed into more clear "sherbet" colors rather than dusty. A
MIXTURE OF SPRING AND SUMMER COLORS TO BRING ABOUT BALANCE Everything about this person is subtle with a mixture of soft warm/cool blends — just like the following soft balanced colors. This person's eyes are a soft teal color, changing from blue to blue-green depending on the color the person is wearing. Hair colors are light but more subtle and blended. The hair, skin and eyes are near the same color or value (medium skin hair and eyes) and this lack of contrast requires softer blended colors. This mixture is more dusty and soft as compared to the "sherbet" quality of the Spring mix. A

WINTER HOMEBASE WITH SPRING INFLUENCE Everything about this person's coloring is intense — just like these balanced clear colors. There are two types: One, warm and intense in color with ruddy or Ethnic warm appearing skin and dark hair with jet dark eyes. The other coloring type is more clear, vibrant and “jewel-like” as exemplified by the Irish white skin, black hair, intense blue eyes and rosy cheeks — this is dramatic striking coloring. Extremely exaggerated dark eyebrows are in this category. The person would wear their Winter Homebase colors and add these colors to expand and accent their color range. A
MIXTURE OF WINTER AND SPRING COLORS TO BRING ABOUT BALANCE
Winter Homebase person with sallow skin needs a touch of Autumn warmth added back to colors. Brown-haired Winter types need this touch of warmth. AUTUMN HOMEBASE WITH WINTER INFLUENCE (pictured below) Autumn person with contrast from dark eye or darker hair needs dark colors added to their basic colors. These balanced colors will be their "best " colors. SPRING HOMEBASE WITH WINTER INFLUENCE (pictured below) Spring person with striking contrast. Has darker hair or dark eyes and fair skin. Adding dark balanced colors repeats needed contrast. This category is unique because when a Spring Homebase person has Winter Influence from dark eyes and hair, the addition of cool Winter colors tone out much of the brightness inherent in Spring colors. When these people gray they will gray white instead of the usual Spring creamy white. Actually you are mixing warm colors with dark cool colors — thus, the same balanced darker colors approximately apply to all three categories, as shown below. MIXTURE

In addition to Homebase colors, most people have influences from one or two of the other seasons. The extra colors are adjacent to their Homebase, so everyone wears some balanced colors located on the end sections of the ovals. Your Questionnaire will show you which way your colors flow as your range expands to include balanced colors. The major question is, do you go from your Homebase toward to left side into clear intense balanced colors, or to the right side into dusty soft balanced colors.
